ERW (Enhanced Rock Weathering) is a nature-based carbon removal approach that accelerates natural rock weathering processes by applying finely crushed alkaline minerals—such as basalt—onto agricultural soils. When exposed to rainwater and CO₂, these minerals chemically bind atmospheric carbon into stable bicarbonates and carbonates, effectively removing CO₂ from the atmosphere.
